Livres sur l'armée russe ?

Messages recommandés

Bonjour,

Je cherche de bons livres sur l'armée russe, est-ce que vous en connaîtriez (matériels, histoire, doctrine...) ?

Merci d'avance !

Bonjour Kiriyama

Je te conseille:

"The bear went over the mountain", édition en anglais par Lester W. Grau.

Summary: This report analyzes the conflict within the Soviet armed forces that has developed as a result of the ongoing discussions about a fundamental reorganization into an all-volunteer/professional army or a territorial militia. It follows the rapid progression of the public debate, from its inception in 1988 to the present, where it has become a key issue on the Soviet national security agenda. The author identifies the major groups involved in discussions about military reform, examines their arguments, and assesses the impact of these discussions on the Soviet military institution. He suggests that the expendability of the existing High Command could lead to a cure for the intramilitary split and an opportunity for a radical transformation of the military institution and national security decisionmaking in the Soviet Union.

Robert V Barylski. The soldier in Russian politics : duty, dictatorship and democracy under Gorbachev and Yeltsin. – New Brunswick, NJ : Transaction Publishers, 1998. – xii, 510 p.

"The Soldier in Russian Politics is the first study to go beyond familiar accounts of the main events that brought down the Soviet state and began its reconstruction. It captures the interplay between soldier and civilian politicians in a major political history based on solid political-sociological analysis. Barylski uses the study of civil-military relations to explore new political and intellectual conditions and explain the historic relationship between changes in Western models of Russian reality and political change in the former Soviet Union." "Examining the military's participation in every major, twentieth-century, political change from 1917 to 1991. Barylski demonstrates that every deep political transformation in Russia has military dimensions. Barylski discusses how the Russian presidency's power to command and control the military without legislative checks and balances led to armed conflict with Parliament in October 1993 and to the Chechen war of 1994-1996, and is unhealthy for long term democratic development. Barylski analyzes ministers of defense Yazov, Shaposhnikov, Grachev, and Rodionov as political actors, traces the careers of ambitious political soldiers such as Aleksandr Lebed and Aleksandr Rutskoi, and describes the military's growing political alienation from the Yeltsin administration. His final chapters cover the presidential elections, the short-lived Yeltsin-Lebed political alliance, the tensions associated with Yeltsin's ailments, and Yeltsin's efforts to rebuild his personal power and political effectiveness." "This book will interest political scientists, political sociologists, students of Russian and Soviet politics, and all military historians and professionals.

Soviet army equipment, organization, and operations / Combined Arms and Services Staff School. – 1992. – iii, 421 p. : ill.

Abstract:

Staff officers must know the potential enemy. They must know the organization of enemy units. They must know the organization of enemy units. They must understand the capabilities and limitations of enemy weapons and equipment. They must know how the enemy usually organizes for combat, the need for a comprehensive knowledge of the enemy is clear because "the enemy" is one of the fundamental consideration (mission, enemy, terrain, and weather, troops available, and time) involved in any tactical desicion. However, in peacetime an understanding of the enemy is also essential to many staff officer positions, particularly those related to developing our fource structure, training our fource, and planning for contingencies.

Alexandr' G Savel'yev, Nikolay N. Detinov. The Big Five : The Arms Control Decision-Making In The Soviet Union. – 1995. – 224 s.

Based primarily on the authors' personal experiences, this is the first study to reveal the inside story of how arms control decisions were made in the former Soviet Union. Savel'yev and General-Lieutenant Detinov participated directly in the decision-making process from 1969, when the Big Five was established, to the end of 1991, when the USSR was dissolved. They pay special attention to activities of the Politburo Commission for the Supervision of the Negotiations—the Big Five—and its working body, the interagency group known as the Five. They describe the key moments and main changes in the Soviet positions at SALT-I, SALT-II, INF, START, and DST.

Pavel K Baev. The Russian Army in a Time of Troubles. – 1996. – 224 p. – (International Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO) ; vol. 13).

This study of the Russian army and how it has fared in the uncertain transitional period since independence in December 1991 provides the basis for understanding its present and potential future role in the new political developments within Russia.

Following an historical overview of Russia's security agenda and an examination of the Russian/Soviet army's tradition of involvement in politics, the book then examines Russia's current security interests and the role of the army in protecting them. Geopolitical perspectives are linked to the security issues of the `Near Abroad', and to the nuclear dimension of security. Pavel K Baev then considers the question of the feasibility of political control over the Russian army.

Olga Oliker. Russia's Chechen wars 1994-2000 : lessons from urban combat. – Santa Monica, CA : Rand, 2001.

An examination of the difficulties faced by the Russian military in planning and carrying out urban operations in Chechnya. Russian and rebel military forces fought to control the Chechen city of Grozny in the winters of 1994-1995 and 1999-2000, as well as clashing in smaller towns and villages. The author examines both Russian and rebel tactics and operations in those battles, focusing on how and why the combatants' approaches changed over time. The study concludes that while the Russian military was able to significantly improve its ability to carry out a number of key tasks in the five-year interval between the wars, other important missions--particularly in the urban realm--were ignored, largely in the belief that the urban mission could be avoided. This conscious decision not to prepare for a most stressful battlefield met with devastating results, a lesson the United States would be well served to study.

Is a closeup and detailed look at present Soviet uniforms as they were worn in normal service. The book has been enhanced by the inclusion of several uniform changes observed in Afghanistan. Emphasis is on a recruit's eye view of the Army, its routines and uniforms, hence an exceptionally useful book for the hobbyist or student of the Soviet soldier. 50 photos, 12 color plates.
