Mais pour qui ce Piranah 5 est-il prévu ?

l'USMC peut-être .

 

l'Infanteria de Marina espagnole en est équipé ,enfin du Piranha III .

 

amphibie ,avec plusieurs version ,une pour l'infanterie avec 12.7 et LG 40 mm , une version reconnaissance avec canon de 30 mm avec 2 MAG 58 de 7.62 mm.

version génie etc ...

 

étant donné que l'infanteria de Marina a calqué son organisation sur celle de l'USMC tout  en apportant des particularités espagnoles avec le Piranha III quoi de plus intéressant d'avoir un véhicule qui peu faire un max de spécialité dont aussi un transport de troupe 8x8 et amphibie .

l'engin qui pourra aussi remplacer les LAV de l'USMC  .

Le Desert Piranha-5 sera présenté avec une nouvelle tourelle CMI 30/40mm.

Ce châssis est fin prêt pour des contrats dans les émirats, mais aussi en Australie.

Salomon, en postant les photos se demandait pourquoi ne pas avoir recours au ripage de roues plutôt qu'à un essieu directeur pour lui trop complexe.

Skid steering is adding a lot of wear and tear compared to steering the wheels and only time skid steering comes in to play is at turning on the spot ,but other 95% of the time its just inducing extra. wear and tear. French have some skid steering AFVs but that probably has most to do with the fact that they share some components with a tracked vehicle.

Also when not stopped, skid stearing can result in lack of traction. As well, if the vehicle has any form of ASR, skid steering can make it much more complex.

And I'm not sure the rear wheel steering really makes it all that complex. They likely use the exact same mechanism as the front wheels. Skid steering would likely require another set of gear boxes on at least 4 wheels which seems much more complex and prone to issues.

Denmark has selected the General Dynamics European Land Systems - MOWAG Piranha 5 8x8 to be its new armoured personnel carrier (APC), the Danish Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 30 April.

The move marks an end to the largest armoured vehicle competition in Europe, and sees an 8x8 triumph in a fascinating contest that had pitted two schools of armoured vehicle design, wheeled and tracked, against each other.

In Royal Danish Army service the Piranha 5 will replace the M113 series of tracked APCs.

Additionally the MoD announced that it would be suspending its planned acquisition of a new 155 mm self-propelled artillery (SPA) system.

Denmark will purchase a minimum of 206 Piranha 5s, with the number potentially rising to 450, although the MoD stated that "the exact number will be determined at a later date."

Speaking of the selection, Danish Defense Minister Nicolai Wammen said: "I am very pleased that ... Piranha 5 has been a winner of the tender on new armoured vehicles for the defence. Our current armoured personnel carrier has served the Army well for many years, and will continue some time yet, but with Piranha 5 we have found the armoured personnel carrier that can best solve the defence tasks of the future."

For the Danish requirement the Piranha 5 had competed in trials against one other 8x8, the Nexter Systems Véhicule Blindé de Combat d'Infanterie, and three tracked offerings: the FFG Flensburger Protected Mission Module Carrier G5, BAE Systems Armadillo and General Dynamics European Land Systems - Santa Barbara Sistemas ASCOD 2. According to the MoD, the selection of the Piranha 5 was made "after thorough examination and evaluation of suppliers' offers and testing of the vehicles".

The decision to halt Denmark's artillery procurement programme comes as a result of a need to reassign funding to repair one of its AgustaWestland AW101 Merlin helicopters, which crashed in Afghanistan in October 2014. Although the helicopter was only reported to have toppled on its side while attempting to land near Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan, the helicopter was reported to have suffered extensive damage in the process. According to the MoD, "whether the helicopter can be rebuilt or must be replaced, there will be a three-digit million expense" - at least DKK100 million (USD15.1 million).

"Against this background, there was agreement … to annul the tender and delay the purchase of new artillery for the army, which [will] help to create financial flexibility", the MoD stated.

The new 155 mm/52-calibre artillery system was intended to replace the Forsvaret's M109A3 155 mm self-propelled howitzers, with 21 SPA's planned to be purchased. Three offerings had been competing for the requirement: the Samsung Techwin K9 Thunder tracked system, Nexter Systems' wheeler CAESAR systems, and Elbit/Soltam Systems' Autonomous Truck Mounted howitzer System (ATMOS) SP artillery system.

According to the MoD, Denmark is now looking to "explore possibilities to rent or borrow modern artillery from another country" as a stop-gap measure until the country is again able to look to purchase a new SPA system.

The winner is found after thorough examination and evaluation of suppliers' offers and testing of the vehicles.

The Piranha V 8×8 is the fifth-generation of the family of Piranha wheeled utility vehicles and is being developed by General Dynamics.

After Thursday, April 30, 2015, meeting of defense conciliation says Defense Minister Nicolai Wammen:

"I am very pleased that we are now with Piranha 5 has been a winner of the tender on new armored vehicles for the defense. Our current Humvee has served the Army well for many years, and will continue some time yet, but with Piranha 5 we have found the armored personnel carrier that can best solve the Defence tasks in the future. "

A minimum acquired 206 new armored personnel carriers, but the exact number will be determined at a later date.

The cross-country mobility of the Piranha V is similar to that of a tracked vehicle.

The Piranha 5 was unveiled during the Intedrnational Defense Exhibition in Paris, Eurosatory 2010. The PIRANHA 5 sets a new survivability benchmark for the wheeled armored combat vehicle class and provides the highest levels of mine, improvised explosive device (IED) and ballistic protection. PIRANHA 5 has a next generation, full coverage, modular survivability system that has been integrated in the vehicle design from the concept stage.

The Piranha 5 is equipped with numerous other systems that enhance vehicle performance and flexibility such as the digital CAN backbone, fuel efficient drive train technology, integrated heating, air-conditioning and NBC protection system and the 120 kW Inline Starter/Generator (ISG).

The Piranha 5 can be equipped with a full range of weapon system as 12.7mm machine , 25mm or 30mm automatic cannon or low-recoil 105mm guns, including Rheinmetall Landsysteme weapon station with 12.7mm gun and Delco Systems 25mm and 30mm turrets.

The Piranha designs incorporate shaped hull plates to optimise against blast, spacing in the add-on armour and surface coatings to minimise the thermal and radar signatures.

The modular armour system provides protection against rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), 14.5mm armour-piercing rounds through 360° and 30mm armour piercing rounds across the 30° frontal arc. The hull provides protection against 8kg anti-tank mines.

La nouvelle version du VBCI présentée à Eurosatory possède aussi un essieu arrière directeur, un moteur plus puissant et une architecture châssis repensée pour être plus ergonomique, c'est surement cette version qui est présentée maintenant à l'export au moyen orient.

Il pèse combien avec ce niveau de protection ?

 

Dans le folder de General Dynamics il affiche un poids à vide de 17 tonnes et un PTAC de 33.

 

 

Le piranha 5 a une version canon sans recul de 105MM !? Je n'ai jamais vu cette configuration.

 

 

Tu veux probablement dire, canon à faible recul ?

General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-Canada) (Booth 1301 and Outside 3012) is introducing its latest light armoured vehicle (LAV) innovation here at the show. Not only does it stand out because of its dramatic paint scheme – one side painted white and the other green – the LAV combat support vehicle (CSV) also demonstrates its ability to reconfigure quickly from one mission role to another.

According to the company, its LAV CSV offers a full spectrum of capability from peace support operations to high-intensity conflict.

Imagined and engineered by GDLS-Canada, the LAV CSV’s innovative modular solution builds on the successes of the LAV 6.0 platform, the centrepiece of the Canadian Army’s modernised combat vehicle fleet, which is currently in production as part of the contract to upgrade 550 Canadian Army LAV IIIs to extend their operational lives.

While it is being shown on day one in the LAV CSV A (ambulance) version, it will undergo an overnight reconfiguration in less than an hour into a CSV CP (command post) version, to prove to potential customers how rapidly the vehicle can be re-roled to meet different user requirements.

The LAV CSV A offers highly mobile casualty treatment and evacuation capabilities, being able to accommodate two to four litters and including as temperature-controlled stowage space for medical provisions.

The LAV CSV has many features that are not found on earlier production LAVs, including the double-V hull, which provides a high level of protection against mine and improvised explosive device blasts. A powerful Caterpillar C9 diesel developing 450hp, coupled to an automatic transmission, along with an innovative drivetrain and suspension, provides a high level of cross-country mobility.

The independent hydropneumatic suspension has height control with full-time 8x8 drive or 8x4 being selected by the driver.

Drum brakes are fitted all round, as is anti-skid braking and central tyre inflation, which allows the driver to adjust the tyre pressure to suit the terrain being at GDLS-Canada. “The LAV CSV is an exceptional combat vehicle that offers a modular approach to missions while maintaining the highest levels of protection of our Canadian soldiers.”

In addition to the LAV CSV, GDLS-Canada is showing two other LAV 6.0 vehicles: the LAV 6.0 Engineer and LAV 6.0 Command Post. Both of these variants are coming into service with Canada in 2016.

Though the LAV 6.0 is the base platform for the LAV CSV, it also forms the basis for the LAV combat reconnaissance vehicle, built and positioned to participate in GDLS-Australia’s bid for Australia’s LAND 400 Phase 2 contract, which aims to replace older LAVs.

In addition to supplying LAVs in the 8x8 configuration for Canada, GDLS-Canada has also sold significant quantities of its LAVs to Australia, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand and the US Army and Marine Corps.

The US Army version is called the Stryker, with the baseline vehicle being the M1126 infantry carrier vehicle.

General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) is showing its latest Light Armoured Vehicle 700 (LAV 700) for the first time – the most advanced vehicle in its class to have been developed by the company.

This is being shown in the command post (CP) configuration and is one of many versions currently in production for an unidentified export customer, which is believed to be Saudi Arabia. The LAV 700 is a further development of the LAV 6 developed to meet the requirements of the Canadian Army.

The CP version of the LAV 700 being shown at IDEX has a gross vehicle weight of 31,000kg, of which 11,000kg is the payload made up of crew, weapons, ammunition, onboard equipment and armour package. It is powered by a Caterpillar C13 diesel developing 711hp coupled to an Allison 2800 fully automatic transmission.

Like the latest production Stryker (8x8) infantry carrier vehicles for the US Army, the LAV 700 features inherent mine blast protection due to its double-V hull. LAV 700 also features scalable ballistic protection, energy-absorbing seats and a laser warning system.

Armament fitted includes a Kongsberg Protector remote weapon station, which is typically armed with a stabilised .50 M2 HB machine gun (MG) and a 7.62mm co-axial MG.

Mounted on the roof towards the rear is a 7.62mm MG that is provided with a shield. Integrated into the roof on either side are banks of Galix grenade launchers, which are coupled to the laser detectors.

A high level of cross-country mobility is possible due to the installation of independent hydro-pneumatic suspension with variable height control. The driver can select normal, transport or mine-high ground clearance. Cameras provide situational awareness through a full 360° and the open electronic architecture allows for the rapid installation of subsystems.

While the LAV 700 on show at IDEX is in the CP version, there are many more variants including ambulance, armoured personnel carrier, command and control, direct and indirect fire support, anti-tank, security, reconnaissance and surveillance and repair/recovery vehicles.
