Okay ! 

Au grand soulagement de la marine indienne, son sous-marin Kilo, le Sindhughosh qui s’était échoué vendredi alors qu’il retournait à la base navale de Mumbai, a été secouru et déséchoué ce samedi.

On a aussi appris que ni le sous-marin, ni son équipage n’avaient subi de perte ou de dégât.

An unexpected and worrying question mark has been placed over the Indian Navy’s expensive new Boeing P-8I multi-mission maritime aircraft (MMA), which were bought to allow the navy to monitor the Indian Ocean and to destroy enemy submarines that it detected.

According to a Bloomberg news report, the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has found that the US Navy’s version of the aircraft, the P-8A, is ineffective at both surveillance, and in detecting and destroying submarines.

Michael Gilmore, the Pentagon’s chief weapons inspector, has reported that the P-8A “is not effective for the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance mission and is not effective for wide area anti-submarine search”, according to Bloomberg, which cites Gilmore’s annual report on major weapons.

The Indian Navy, which has bought eight P8-I aircraft for US $2.1 billion, is Boeing’s first international customer for this platform.

Lors d’un autre incident, un canon de 30 mm de l’ICSG Sangram, un patrouilleur en modernisation à Mumbai, a tiré accidentellement. L’obus a traversé le bâtiment de l’état-major, détruisant quelques bureaux.

Inde : premier tir en salve de missiles BrahMos

Les forces navales d'Inde ont procédé à un tir en salve de missiles de croisière supersoniques BrahMos depuis la frégate Trikand construite à Kaliningrad, a communiqué une source dans les couloirs du salon d'armement international Defexpo-2014.

 

« Il s'agit du premier tir en salve des missiles de croisière supersoniques dans le monde. Il a eu lieu le 30 janvier, a-t-elle noté. Tout a réussi. Deux missiles ont été lancés l'un après l'autre à trois secondes d'intervalle ».

 

Selon la source, « le premier missile équipé d'une ogive de combat a détruit sa cible et le second, télémétrique, a suivi le trajectoire fixé ». « Nous pouvons lancer presque simultanément 8 missiles l'un après l'autre », a-t-elle précisé.

First Indian MiG-29 Fighter Jet Lands on Vikramaditya

MOSCOW, February 7 (RIA Novosti) – An Indian MiG-29 naval jet landed on a refitted former Soviet aircraft carrier Friday, marking the first such operation since the ship was delivered by Russia to the south Asian nation earlier this year.

 

“An exciting event took place today – the first landing of an [indian] MiG-29 piloted by an Indian pilot on the Vikramaditya,” Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation vice president Igor Ponomarev told reporters at the ongoing DEFEXPO-2014 exhibition in New Delhi.

 

The Vikramaditya, formerly known as the Admiral Gorshkov, was handed over to the Indian navy on November 16 at the Semvash shipbuilder and arrived at a naval base in Kanwar in the beginning of January.

 

The process of the ship’s official commissioning will take between three and four months, according to the Indian navy. A team of Russian specialists arrived onboard the ship and will stay in India for a year to fix any possible glitches if needed.

 

The Indian Navy commissioned its first squadron of MiG-29K/KUB carrier-based fighters in 2013.

 

The squadron, dubbed the “Black Panthers,” comprises 12 single-seat MiG-29Ks and four two-seat MiG-29KUBs, which Russia supplied under a 2004 contract with the Indian Defense Ministry.

The aircraft have until now been stationed at an airbase in Dabolim, in the state of Goa on India's west coast.

 

In January 2010, New Delhi and Moscow signed a deal worth $1.2 billion for the delivery of an additional 29 MiG-29Ks to the Indian navy.

 

The Vikramaditya is expected to carry up to 24 MiG-29K/KUB fighter jets.

 

India has built with Russia’s assistance a training facility for naval pilots to practice aircraft carrier operations.

 

The facility, known as NITKA, features a takeoff ramp and arrestor cables to enable naval aviators to practice high-precision and high-acceleration takeoffs and landings.

The design is a modified version of the Mistral class with pods replaced with two regulars shafts. The 28,000 tons LPD would retain the flat top of the Mistral (hence making it a defacto LHD) and would be capable to accomodate 12 helicopters. According to PIPAVAV representatives at the show, the LPD would be fitted with AK 630 and 12 short range surface to air missiles.

Xavier, merci pour l'info, on connait le besoin de base de ce LPD? 28 000t pour seulement 12 hélicoptères signifieraient qu'il est plutôt conçu pour le débarquement horizontal que la projection verticale...

Un incident supplémentaire chez la marine indienne, le destroyer s'est heurté une jetée en rentrant au port de Mumbai. C'est le 9ème incident depuis quelques mois.

The navy has ordered a probe against the commanding officer of a leading warship after his boat allegedly hit a jetty while berthing at the Mumbai harbour, putting the navy’s dismal safety record under further scrutiny.

 

A navy source said a board of inquiry had been ordered against the captain of INS Mysore, a 6,900-tonne guided missile destroyer assigned to frontline operations. The warship’s skipper is a navigation and direction specialist.

 

Although the INS Mysore suffered “minor damage” and is currently seaworthy, the source said authorities had taken a “serious view” of the incident because of the spate of such mishaps.

 

“The destroyer is currently off Visakhapatnam to take part in an annual exercise. Its captain has as an impeccable record and is still in command,” he said.

 

The captains of INS Talwar, INS Betwa and INS Airavat have been stripped of their command in a span of one month for lapses that led to accidents under their watch, raising questions about leadership and training in the navy.

 

The incident involving INS Mysore has taken the navy’s mishap tally to nine since India’s Russian-built submarine INS Sindhurakshak blew up and sank at a Mumbai harbour last August, killing all 18 men on board.

 

Defence minister AK Antony had on Thursday asked the navy to clean up its act, saying he wasn’t satisfied with the force’s functioning. He directed the navy to “strictly follow” standard operating procedures to combat preventable accidents that have tarnished the force’s reputation.

 

The defence ministry may ask the navy to carry out a “safety stand-down,” a designated time for crews to focus on safety-related matters and training to deal with the daunting challenge of reducing mishaps. Human error is the most frequent cause of navy mishaps worldwide.

Certaines rumeurs circulent comme quoi le porte-avions INS Vikramaditya a eu des soucis techniques pendant son retour en Inde depuis la Russie. Elles parlent de 2 chaudières tombées en panne, et l'impossibilité de se ravitailler en mer près du Portugal.

 

Quelqu'un saurait confirmer / affirmer ces dires?

Les RAM sont limités selon les états de mer, or avec les dépressions qui se succèdent depuis décembre au large des Açores et atlantique nord , rien de surprenant à ce que genre d'opération complexe requérant de l’effectif pour le passages de ombilicaux ( RAM liquides ) , des réglages d’allures entre ravitailleur et ravitaillé….etc, soit dans ces conditions rendue techniquement dangereuse et donc impossible ….

Je vais ptet dire une bêtise mais je crois pas que le Liaonning et le Vikramaditya (si c'est bien le Viarag évoqué, Varyag étant l'ancien nom du Liaonning) soient sur la même base ...

- Le Liaonning est le sister-ship de L’Amiral Kouznetsov, une classe de portes-avions STOBAR soviétique.

- Le Vikramaditya est le résultat de la transformation d'un porte-aéronefs de classe Kiev en porte-avions STOBAR par les arsenaux russes

NEW DELHI/MUMBAI: Navy chief Admiral DK Joshi on Wednesday resigned after two officers were feared killed and seven sailors injured when a fire erupted on board a submarine, INS Sindhuratna, around 40 nautical miles off Mumbai. "Taking moral responsibility for the accidents and incidents which have taken place during the past few months, the Navy chief has resigned. The government has accepted the resignation of Admiral Joshi with immediate effect.

 

Navy vice-chief Vice Admiral RK Dhowan will be discharging the duties of officiating Navy chief, pending the appointment of a regular chief," said a defence ministry statement. In the mishap, the Navy said the two officers, a lieutenant Commander and a lieutenant, both from the electrical branch, were "still to be accounted for", while the seven sailors were airlifted by Sea King helicopters to INS Ashwini hospital at Colaba.

 

"The sailors fell unconscious on inhaling the heavy smoke engulfing the submarine's third compartment. They are now stable," said an officer. An upset defence ministry sought a detailed report from the Navy since this is the second major accident in the country's ageing submarine fleet in the last six months, which has further dented India's underwater combat arm.

 

INS Sindhurakshak, a Russian Kilo-class submarine like INS Sindhuratna, had sunk at the Mumbai naval dockyard, killing three officers and 15 sailors, after a series of internal explosions in its fully-loaded weapons compartment on August 14. INS Sindhuratna, incidentally, was berthed next to INS Sindhurakshak at that time and sustained minor damage to its hull.

 

The accident on Wednesday took place when INS Sindhuratna had just begun its "sea workup phase" after undergoing a refit at the Mumbai dockyard from May to December last year. As part of the procedures, the Western Naval Command's commodore commanding submarines SR Kapoor and his inspection team were on board to test both the crew and the submarine before clearing it for operational deployment.

 

In all, there were 94 personnel on board.

Si ma mémoire est bonne, sur un 877EKM il y a en tout 6 compartiments, le 1er et le 3ème sont là où se trouvent les batteries de 120-cellules.
