  11. “Helicopters of Russia” presented “ANSAT” to Dmitry Medvedev During the first day of the VI International Industrial Exhibition “Innoprom-2015″ in Yekaterinburg, a new multipurpose helicopter “ANSAT” was demonstrated to Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on the stand of holding “Helicopters of Russia” of State Corporation Rostec. The Ansat helicopter has a number of competitive advantages compared to counterparts in its class. It is reliable and easy to operate, can be used in a wide range of climatic conditions, and does not need to be stored in a hangar. The Ansat has a metal fuselage, composite non load-bearing parts, and fibreglass blades. The hinge-less main rotor makes it easier to handle and significantly reduces its operating costs. In May 2015 the Ansat was certified by the IAC AR for passenger traffic, since which time the company has received orders from two airlines for these helicopters.

  15. Russia starts building warship similar to Mistral JUNE 16, 2015 / ENGINEERINGRUSSIA Russia has begun work on a helicopter carrier similar to a previously ordered, French-built warship whose delivery has been stalled due to Paris’s concerns over Moscow’s role in the Ukraine crisis, news agency TASS reported, citing a senior navy official. The assault vessel is being built in St. Petersburg’s Yantar shipyards and will “join the navy in 2018 after the completion of construction and all phases of testing,” the head of the navy’s shipbuilding department, Vladimir Tryapichnikov, said late last week. The ship, the second of Russia’s new Ivan Gren-class (Project 11711) landing vessels, was ordered a month after Paris froze a 1.2 billion euro ($1.3 billion) deal for two Mistral-class assault ships in response to Russia’s annexation of Crimea and support for rebels in eastern Ukraine.
  16. Ocean ekranoplan developed in Russia The 540 ton Ekranoplan or Caspian Sea Monster as it was called, can travel over water in excess of 290 knots! This is a phenomenal speed for what is basically a sea going vessel. Ekranoplan is a Russian word, it means ‘screen craft’ or ‘skimmer’. It is not a plane nor is it a ship, its more like a mixture of both. The Ekranoplan travels along on a dynamic cushion of air that is generated by its forward movement, and with eight powerful turbofan jet engines it can reach a high rate of knots. The Ekranoplan has similar characteristics of the common hovercraft, in that it flies just above the surface of the water as it moves. However, it will not hover whilst stationary but just sit and float in the water like a boat. Its a revolutionary way to travel over the oceans at high speed and the Russians thought of it first.
  17. India to buy Russian helicopters in major deal The Indian defence acquisition committee (DAC) on Wednesday cleared the purchase of almost 200 Russian Ka-226T ‘Kamov’ helicopters produced by JSC. The Russian helicopter was found more suitable than its nearest competitor from Airbus Helicopters, RIA Novosti reported. Earlier, in December 2014, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that in accordance with the relevant agreement with Russia, India would be producing Mi-17 and Ka-226T helicopters in India, possibly up to 400 ‘Kamov’ helicopters annually. This would be part of the Indian government’s ambitious ‘Make in India’ programme, opened up to the defence sector. Rogozin said that initially, when India announced a tender for helicopters of this kind, the main competitor to the Russian helicopter was the ‘Eurocopter’. But the Ka-226T helicopter’s unique characteristics and particular Indian requirements forced the Indian defence ministry to cancel the tender and decide to produce the Russian copters in India.
  18. Armata’s next supreme 152mm gun to sport super-piercing shell Russia’s new T-14 Armata tank is going to get an even more powerful armament, as the next version of the main battle tank will be armed with previously rumored 152mm gun, revealed the official in charge of the defense industry. Deputy PM Dmitry Rogozin told Izvestia newspaper that next-stage Armata tanks will be supplied with already-developed big bore cannon and brand new projectiles. “We’ve got a new projectile for this tank than can burn through a meter of steel, we would arm Armata with that one,” Rogozin said.
  19. Project of Russian latest high-speed helicopter to get flying laboratory this year The first flying laboratory under the program “Promising high-speed helicopter” (PSV) will be created before the end of this year, in 2016 the first flight can take place, the deputy general director of the holding company “Russian Helicopters” Andrei Shibitov said on Tuesday. As reported, the Russian Federation will spend over 7 billion rubles on the creation of new high-speed helicopter. In January 2014, the executive director of “Klimov” Vatagin Alexander said that the first prototype of a new generation engine for PSV will be established in 2015, RIA Novosti reported. Mi-26T completes unique transport mission The world’s heaviest-lifting commercial helicopter, the Mi-26T, produced by Russian Helicopters (part of State Corporation Rostec) has successfully completed a mission to transport the 14-tonne fuselage of a Mi-26 military transport helicopter from Yoshkar-Ola to Rostov-on-Don. The Mi-26(T) helicopter is the only model able to fly while carrying cargo this size and weight. The fuselage was transported by Rostvertol-Avia for repair work as ordered by Experimental Design Bureau Rostov-Mil. “The operation to transport the fuselage took nine days,” Rostvertol-Avia Airlines’ crew commander Valery Chumakov said. “The route passed through Cheboksary, Ulyanovsk, Saransk, Penza, Saratov, Kamyshin, Volgograd, and Volgodonsk. There were various weather conditions along the route – from winter to summer – but that did not cause any difficulties. I have been working on Mi-26Ts for over 15 years and can say with confidence that this helicopter is ideally suited to operations like this.”

  22. Une console Playstation dans le Kurganets. The new Russian armored vehicle platform uses a device similar to a Playstation controller, the manufacturer’s vice-president told Russian media. The new Kurganets-25 infantry fighting vehicle uses a “console similar to a Sony Playstation gamepad,” Tractor Plants vice-president Albert Bakov told Russian media. “I spent two years on convincing the designers to make the console similar to a Sony Playstation gamepad, to make it easier for a young soldier to familiarize himself with it,” Bakov said. According to Bakov, the idea of left-right coordination, as well as the fact that the gamepad form has been perfected for decades made it a good choice. The gamepad design is also safer and takes up less space than a steering wheel.
