Rheinmetall, the major sponsor for Land Forces 2016, is exhibiting one of its BOXER 8x8 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRV), one of two remaining competitors for Australia’s LAND 400 Phase 2 programme. The BOXER is equipped with a 35mm automatic cannon, mounted on top of a Rheinmetall-manufactured LANCE manned turret, and features C4ISR capabilities – such as a Local Situational Awareness System (LSAS) developed and manufactured by Melbourne-basd SME Tectonica. Powered by a 720 HP MTU turbo-diesel engine, the Boxer can reach a top speed in excess of 100km/h.
Despite this formidable speed and armament, coupled with multi-layered passive armour, the BOXER is still vulnerable to unexpected rocket attacks in the field, which is where the BOXER's active defence system (ADS) comes in, developed by ADS Protection – a company which Rheinmetall Waffe Munition GmbH holds a 74% stake in.
The active defence system is a comprised of two sets of sensors, which detect and determine incoming explosive projectile threats. If the threat is deemed to be hitting the vehicle, a counter-measure mounted on the side of the vehicle is activated. “The aim is to cut the shape charge mechanism within the incoming warhead without triggering the shape charge jet itself,” Stefan Kruselburger of Rheinmetall Defence explained. As the countermeasure cuts the shape charge of the projectile, the blast is directed down and away from the vehicle in a concentrated area, minimising both collateral damage and damage to the vehicle. “Every hardkill system has close collateral damage, but as we are intercepting the threat close to the vehicle, we have no projectiles or EFP’s flying around, we don’t have a big blast somewhere far from the vehicle, and we don’t bring our own troops that surround the vehicle into danger,” Kruselburger said.
The ADS has a short reaction time, allowing it to intercept threats from a close distance. “An RPG fired from 11-12m is easy for us to detect, determine and intercept,” Kruselburger claimed.
The actual time required to complete these tasks is less than a millisecond.
Currently, the ADS is an optionally mounted system for the BOXER, but an attractive one. The prevalence of explosive projectile threats in the contemporary operating environment makes ADS and similar systems a pressing area for future development.

15 September 2016Denel Vehicle Systems has developed a 6x6 truck based on its RG31 series of mine-resistant ambushed protected (MRAP) vehicles.
The 'Africa Truck', which has a gross vehicle weight of 28 tonnes and an empty weight of 12 tonnes, has been designed to be as modular as possible and can accommodate a range of superstructures or a hook lift system. It is also designed to be as simple as possible with a focus on maintenance in the field far from even forward workshops, although its electronically controlled engine might present a challenge in this regard.
The 269 kW diesel drives through an Allison automatic gearbox with a DVS-developed two-speed transfer case. It uses rigid axles with differential locks, while the suspension comprises parabolic leaf springs with double-acting hydraulic shock-absorbers. The vehicle uses 16.00 R20 tyres on 10x20-inch split rims, with provision for a central tyre-inflation system. The steering is hydraulically assisted.
The demonstrator vehicle is 10 m long, 2.6 m wide and 2.74 m high, and features a kerb-to-kerb turning circle of 30 m. It has a ground clearance of 455 mm, approach and departure angles of 40° and 30° respectively, can climb a 60% gradient, and has a maximum speed of 110 km/h.
Ballistic protection is to STANAG Level 1, although it can also protect against 7.62 x 39 mm armour-piercing incendiary rounds with appliqué armour, while mine protection is offered against an 8 kg minimum blast anywhere under the vehicle.

J'ai l'impression que c'est devenu, à l'exemple américain, une pratique courante que de contester systématiquement le résultat de tout appel d'offre (dans l'armement et, en fait, partout): tactique commerciale, bargaining chip, essai de se raccrocher aux branches pour obtenir quelque chose.... C'est en tout cas un truc qui se fait maintenant à tous les coups, faisant par ailleurs augmenter le coût des choses pour un Etat, en délais et en frais de justice. Maintenant, comme habitué des marchés publics de la Défense, il y a parfois certaines décisions et actions qui peuvent inciter à déposer ce genre de recours.
Le fait que depuis 2008/2009 plus de 1500 soldats de l'armée française utilisent de façon intensive le HK416 peut avoir clairement influencé le choix, a juste titre d'ailleurs ... On peut très bien comprendre un décideur qui va vous dire : ça fait maintenant 7 ans que 1500 commandos crapahutent et se battent avec ce fusil et en sont très satisfaits, on va leur faire confiance ... Il a raison "opérationellement", simplement on peut alors se demander pourquoi incite-t-on à 4 autres entreprises de faire des investissements à perte de plusieurs centaines de milliers d'€ ... C'est aussi la pervertion des marchés publics ... On a fait rentrer HK en "urgence opération", on doit savoir que si le choix est bon, cela influence énormément les décisions ultérieures.

Au lieu de lancer un programme de fusil d'assaut, l'AdT aurait pu lancer un programme de système d'armement petit calibre complet. Comprendre : une sorte de système d'armes avec fusil d'assaut, de précision, mitrailleuses 7,62 et 5,56mm. Dans ce cas, seul FN pouvait fournir l'ensemble. Aucun autre fabriquant ne pouvait.

Le problème du camouflage est que l'environnement ne dépend pas de la température.
quand les températures montent ou descendent la colorimétrie des lieux ne se modifie pas.
C'est absurde comme concept. Le SCA démontre encore qu'il n'a pas d'opérationnels en son sein.

Source: IHS/Patrick AllenContenders for the British Army's Mechanised Infantry Vehicle (MIV) requirement were out in force at Defence Vehicle Dynamics (DVD) 2016 at Millbrook Proving Ground on 7 and 8 September.
MIV will be an 8x8 procured off-the-shelf and fitted with a minimum number of UK sourced sub-systems such as remote weapon station, communications, battle management system and seating. According to David Russell, MIV Team Leader "MIV is now in the concept phase" and with "the team building up rapidly".
Potential contenders that showed up at DVD 2016 were the Finnish Patria Armoured Modular Vehicle (AMV) and the latest AMV XP variant, the French Nexter Systems VBCI, Singapore Technologies Kinetics Terrex 3, the ARTEC Boxer, and from General Dynamics (GD) the Piranha 5 and General Dynamics Land Systems LAV. GD could also be in a position to offer the Stryker double-V-hull (SDVH), the LAV 6.0 or the LAV 700 depending on the UK requirements.
MIV is a 'Category A' programme and the acquisition strategy is now being firmed up.
While no numbers are available it is expected that between 300 and 350 MIV would be required with a potential initial operating capability of 2023. The vehicles will in part equip two battalions from within the new 'Strike Brigades' that the army is to form, these brigades will also include the Ajax tracked reconnaissance vehicle.
In addition to the baseline protected mobility (PM) variant of MIV (MIV-PM), other versions including a command and control (MIV-CC), ambulance (MIV-A), repair (MIV-REP) and recovery (MIV-REC) are also planned.
The baseline MIV is planned to be fitted with a Kongsberg Protector RWS armed with a 12.7 mm (.50 cal) machine gun although there is potential version with a heavier armament.

Turkish FNSS Defense Systems, the leading land combat systems company in Turkey, will provide job training to Indonesia’s state-owned PT Pindad for the medium-weight tank’s design and production.
The first prototype will be produced in Turkey with the participation of PT Pindand’s engineers and the second prototype will be produced in Indonesia by PT Pindad. -

BAE, in partnership with Patria, is offering the CV90 to Canberra as part of the government's request for information on the LAND 400 Phase 3 program, BAE said in a statement.
LAND 400 is a Ministry of Defense program to acquire and support the next generation of Australian armored fighting vehicles.
The CV90 is a family of tracked combat vehicles designed by BAE Systems in Sweden, a system the company says offers high performance and unique operational advantages.
It features high mobility, air defense systems, anti-tank capability, high survivability and lethality in all terrains and tactical environments.
The turreted vehicle can carry eight dismounted troops.
BAE said it is the only vehicle of its type in the world that is in ongoing production, offering a low-risk, off-the-shelf offering for LAND 400's Phase 3.

Les forces armées agissent sous réquisition. Celle-ci défini la mission, le lieu d'application et la durée de ladite mission.
Les soldats ne travaillent pas contre les tags, ou la délinquance.
Tout ceci est donc de la responsabilité des préfets de zone qui signent les réquisitions sur demandes des préfets de département.
Le corps préfectoral est sous l'autorité du ministre de l'Intérieur à une exception prête. Puis, vient le Premier ministre et enfin le Président de la République.
Donc, si les moyens de Sentinelle ne protègent pas les français, tu peux par ton vote sanctionner les responsables.
