Le Japon va testé un missile antinavire trisonique ASM-3 de 900 kg contre le destroyer désarmé JDS Shirane et déclare que son arsenal est considéré insuffisant en cas de crise (pas de missiles pour tout les navires chinois ?) :

L'armée japonaise semble en train de poursuivre et d'essayer identifier un sous marin de pays inconnu au détroit de Corée.

防衛省

 2月15日(月)午前、海上自衛隊の「P-3C」、哨戒ヘリコプター及び護衛艦「あさぎり」が、対馬(長崎県)の南東の海域(接続水域内)を日本海から東シナ海の方向へ南西進する潜没潜水艦を確認しました。

 その後、当該潜水艦が対馬海峡東水道を南西進したことを確認しました。

The Japanese Minister of Defense should soon launch a new replenishement oiler program to replace the three Towada class replenishment ships. The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Towada, Tokiwa and Hamana were ordered in the 1980ies and commissioned in 1987 and 1990.

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) appointed Commander Miho Otani as the commanding officer aboard Asagiri-class destroyer Yamagiri (DD-152) on 29 February 2016. Cmdr. Otani becomes the first woman to command a major surface combatant ship in the JMSDF.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) delivered the "Jinryu" submarine to the Japanese Ministry of Defense (MOD) today in a ceremony held at the MHI Kobe Shipyard & Machinery Works' No.3 pier in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture. The Jinryu is the seventh Soryu-class submarine supplied to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), and the fourth built by MHI. MHI also built the first Soryu-class submarine, and has produced a total of 26 submarines at the MHI Kobe Shipyard over the last 70 years.

Le présent article revient sur la symbolique du nom Kaga : c'est un nom de clan féodal, qu'il est coutume de réutiliser pour baptiser les navires de guerre. La marine japonaise a eu un porte-avion du même nom construit en 1920, à l'époque le plus grand du monde, qui devait être la tête de file d'une série de porte-avions qui auraient été construits si le Japon n'avait signé le traité de Washington de 1920 entrainant des limitations à la puissance maritime japonaise.

L'ancien Kaga a participé à la seconde guerre sino-japonaise, terrorisant les côtes chinoises dès 1937, participant à l'attaque de Pearl Harbor, et finissant par être coulé à Midway.

Pékin "ne pourra qu'enrager davantage" quant au choix de ce nom funeste.

First JMSDF 25DD-class Asahi ASW Destroyer Started Sea Trials

Based on Japanese ship spotters pictures, the Asahi destroyer (25DD-class), the latest surface combatant designed for the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF), started sea trials.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Launched the 10th Soryu-class SSK SS-510 Shoryu for the JMSDF

The 10th Soryu-class SSK, SS-510 Shoryu, was launched at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries shipyard in Kobe on November 6th. The Soryu-class diesel-electric submarines are being built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corporation for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF).


 SS-510 Shoryu is the 28th submarine built by Kawasaki after the war and the 10th Soryu-class submarine built for the JMSDF (the 5th built by Kawaski, the other five ones having been built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries). Shoryu's keel was laid in January 2015 and is set to be delivered to the JMSDF in March 2018.

Dixit les concepteurs, tout a été prévu pour (revêtement du pont résistant à la chaleur) : seul le tremplin n'a pas été installé.

C'est le gouv japonais qui ne voulait pas attirer l'attention sur cette fonctionnalité (jusqu'à ce que le besoin devienne urgent)
